Why is the CFI Initial rate higher than standard instruction?
The CFI Initial rating is notoriously one of the most challenging checkrides in aviation. It requires our most experienced, senior instructors to teach you not just how to fly, but the deep psychology and advanced mechanics of how to safely instruct others from the right seat.
What does CFI Initial training focus on?
We focus heavily on the Fundamentals of Instructing (FOI), developing your custom lesson plans, talking while flying (which is harder than it sounds!), and safely recovering from student-induced errors in the aircraft.
If I train at Bird Dog, can I work there as a CFI?
We love hiring our own graduates! While we cannot guarantee a job, students who complete our LOFT Career track or CFI training are heavily favored during our recruitment process because we know they meet our Above-the-Standard requirements.
