I got my PPL at bird dog and I have nothing but good things to say about my experience there. Every CFI is very knowledgeable about the curriculum and provided a great experience. The aircraft are very well maintained and the facilities are excellent. Overall Bird dog is a great place to study aviation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Flight Instructor Training

How long does CFI training take?
It typically takes 1 to 2 months, depending largely on how much time you dedicate at home to building your lesson plans and studying the Fundamentals of Instructing.
Do I have to build my own lesson plans?
Yes. Building and presenting your own lesson plans is a critical part of the learning process and exactly what you will be evaluated on during the oral portion of the checkride.
Does Bird Dog Flight Services hire its own graduates?
Yes! We frequently hire our top-performing CFI graduates to join our team of Above-the-Standard instructors, dependent on our current student volume and staffing needs.
Can I get my CFII (Instrument Instructor) rating here too?
Absolutely. Many of our students choose to add their CFII shortly after earning their initial CFI, making them much more versatile and highly employable instructors.
How much does the CFI rating cost?
Because CFI training is strictly proficiency-based, costs vary. The program typically starts around $2,500, but your final cost will depend heavily on how prepared you are for ground teach-backs.
